I am standing inside what will soon be the revived Amber Falls Lodge. I have never seen Douglas Fir beams quite like these. There is a spiritual quality to this structure that we must protect at all costs. If we can match the craftsmanship of the past with the comforts of a clean, warm bed, we will have something truly special here. I've also just discovered that the local coffee is exceptional. The longer I stay here, the more the building begins to reveal itself in small, quiet ways. Certain floorboards still carry the scent of old pine after the rain, and the windows facing west catch the evening light so perfectly that the entire hallway turns amber for a few minutes before dusk.
